Hiring A Roofing Contractor
Before you hire a contractor, protect yourself by asking for:
- proof of state license and the license number
- a written proposal outlining the work, amount to be charged, and terms of warranty or guarantee
- proof of liability insurance
- proof of worker’s compensation insurance
- a list of customer references for similar jobs
A professional roofing contractor will have a permanent place of business, a tax ID number, and a phone number. If the contractor is hesitant to supply any of the above things, cross him off your list. Before you make your decision, check out the candidates by word of mouth, the Better Business Bureau, and the Wisconsin Roofing Contractors Association. Remember, the cheapest bid is not necessarily the best bid. A quality end product is the true roofing bargain.
