Should You Move or Remodel?

reasons to move:

You have outgrown your current home
Your yard is too small
You do not like your current school district
Your commute is too long
Your neighbors are annoying
You don’t want the hassle of remodeling
You don’t have the time for a remodeling project
Your home would end up too valuable for
its location
You would not recoup the cost of remodeling when
you sold in the future

reasons to remodel:

You enjoy your current home
You like your yard
You like your current school district
Your current commute is desirable
Your neighborhood is ideal
You don’t want to uproot your family
Remodeling would make your home more marketable
if you want to sell in the future.
The costs of moving (real estate agent, home preparation,
transfer of utilities, higher property taxes
and mortgage, etc.) outweigh the benefits
You cannot find a house you would rather move into
