That is where the experts stepped in. Silver Leaf Design Gallery managed space planning and construction documentation for the project.

Dybdahl's Classic Kitchens

Dybdahl's Classic Kitchens

This beautiful home, located in Maple Bluff, had a 20-year old kitchen that no longer fit the owner's current lifestyle. The owners wanted to create a more open living environment, so Dybdahl's Classic Kitchens removed walls, merging the dinette, kitchen, and butler's pantry. They added windows to allow more natural sunlight inside and to create an open connection between the kitchen and the outside porch.

The experts at Dybdahl's then added dropped beams in the ceiling to give the room the correct proportion and prevent the room from looking too long and narrow. The complete switch from dark to light cabinetry and woodwork not only made the kitchen living area more spacious, but made it more friendly and inviting.

The varied lighting also helped to create a lively and comfortable atmosphere in this remarkable remodel.

Flooring: Oak hardwood floors to match existing floors; Cabinets: Painted Finnish maple; Countertop: Cappucino Granite; Backsplash: Tumbled Stone; Appliances: Wolf SubZero

Remarkable Remodel — Exteriors

JG Development, Inc.

JG Development, Inc.

When this Barneveld family decided they needed to remodel, they contacted JG Development, Inc. They wanted to update the original home, and create more living space. The home was a remodeled cheese factory originally built in the 1930s and had many structural problems. JG Development corrected any previous exterior addition errors. The original garage was removed and a new one was added with additional living space above it. A variety of materials were used to create visual interest because of their durability and low-maintenance. Cement board siding and shakes were mixed with stone. A copper roof and gutters were added above the entryway. Stone arches above the garage doors add character to the home.

One Plus Architecture

One Plus Architecture, Inc.

Whe the columns and bright blue siding came off and protective weatherization material was wrapped around the house, the neighbors were already commenting that it was a huge improvement! Ginye Rappaport had grown up in the Deerfield, Illinois home she now shares with her husband Bret, so they had a special attachment to the outdated house.

They entrusted One Plus Architecture with their exerior makeover which added a large family room, screened in porch and master bedroom to the back of the house. The Rapaports have a beautiful prairie-style yard and wanted their home to have the same style. One Plus Architecture designed the remodel to fit their needs, changing the hip roof to a gable roof and extending the overhangs to make it more prairie influenced. The wood lap siding rounded off the project, making this a remarkable remodel!
